From the Water’s Edge presents an interview with Gloria MacKillop, the widow of the legendary ‘Splash’ , and a long-time supporter of the Gatliff cause on Berneray. She originates from Australia, came to the island as the district nurse some 46 years ago and has seen many changes, met many people and hosted a wide range of personalities at their house. Loriana Pauli first presented this memorable broadcast through her blog on 4 April 2013. It’s well worth listening in and considering Gloria’s contributions to island life. The migration patterns have not been all one way. For although Berneray has seen former residents emigrating to Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Australia, here is someone who has come in the other direction … and before the causeway was built!
