Here’s the first part of an account by Marc Calhoun of his journey from Urgha to Rhenigidale, a route that was planned in advance but where something thwarted progress. The photograph of the summit on the old Postman’s Path indicates a marker that matters – gradients certainly count for walkers – and a view that impresses – for it in the distance are The Shiants. Moliginish, downhill and to the right, was one of the places where people traditionally set off to these islands – renowned at one time for the beautiful daughters of the resident family.
