Berneray Hostel from the Sea
The derelict Telford Parliamentary Church on Berneray.
Berneray has at least two buildings which have had a new lease of life recently. One is the Telford Parliamentary Church and the other is our hostel. John Joyce, the GHHT project manager, has with the assistance of a team of helpers created a new feel to the hostel which is, of course, right on the seashore. Keith & Sheena McIntyre have worked with the architects, Patience & Highmore, to resurrect the church and convert it to a studio. It was featured recently on a Channel 4 programme, The Restoration Man, and here is a photograph of it in its derelict state. The former is open to the public and the latter is now a private dwelling. They both obviously give pleasure.
