Some of Howmore’s Thatched Buildings
Howmore is well-known for several things, among them is its collection of thatched buildings, considered to be one of the best in Scotland. An advantage to those interested is that the village is never crowded, even at the height of Summer. So with the distant moorland of the hills behind, the luxuriant machair on the sea-shore, there’s dried vegetation to be seen on the roofs. Visitors to the hostel will not need reminding that they are staying in part of this heritage.
