In 1986 extensive research was done to record aspects of everyday life in the United Kingdom. The data has been stored in the Domesday Project and can be retrieved. Here are the entries for Rhenigidale and they make interesting reading for the road had not yet reached the settlement then. The hostel, however, had been in existence for 24 years.
