Part of The Machair Way, South Uist
The first phase has started of creating The Hebridean Way – featuring routes from Vatersay to the Butt of Lewis. Signage should be in place for the cycle-path, which will be based on existing roads, by this coming Spring. The upgrading and maintenance of the old tracks which will be the basis for the new footpath should be ready for March 2015. The Machair Way, which stretches through most of South Uist and passes close to the Howmore hostel, will be an integral part of it.
