There are, at this time of year, the inevitable signs for hotels and restaurants inviting us to book ahead for the festive season. These invitations do not apply to the Gatliff hostels where, although visitors for Christmas and the New Year are always welcome and evident, there is no booking system to ensure a stay. This has not deterred Cody Duncan whose photography featured in the blog yesterday and who returns today to recall his visits, three times in a row, to Berneray to celebrate the New Year. He indicates that it is his favourite hostel in Scotland and his photographs illustrate something of why this is. Also he mentions that seven people were sitting around the table in the Common Room as midnight approached last year. Considering making up the numbers this year?
