There is something essentially 21st Century about this photograph by Craig Cameron of a walker on Traigh Siar, Berneray. He is dressed for the occasion and is facing in the direction of what is compelling – the hills of Harris in the distance. The photographs of Berneray taken 50 years earlier – in 1963 – and reproduced here by Francis Frith are of landscape and profiles of land as well as sea. The former image appeals to the traveller; the latter gallery to the geographer. They are worth a compare and contrast. Further images by Craig Cameron are available here.
