This is rather an appropriate image for today – Saturday 26 October – as at 02.00 tomorrow the clocks go back and dusk becomes an hour earlier throughout the UK. So on the BST to GMT weekend take a look at a website called Scotland Through Light, compiled by landscape photographer, Chris Thomson. Berneray is featured here and his photographs of North Uist are relevant as well. Cameras are frequently out of their cases in and around the Gatliff hostels, particularly at Berneray for the ever-changing tidal patterns, sky-formations, shades of colour, landscapes, wildlife, buildings, hostellers and their kit, as well, of course, for the intensity of light. If you failed to capture a particular scene when visiting, here’s a source that could help. It certainly assists newcomers to the area and revives memories for old hands at the hostel.
